reading ::: I haven't really read very much over the last 4 weeks. I have a copy of The Five Love Languages of Children from my mom that I'm slowly reading, and I've had my Bible out a couple times over the past few days. Other than that, I'm not reading too much.
watching ::: This week, New Girl and Grey's Anatomy were my saving graces. I just needed to laugh {New Girl} and be sucked into an alternate drama-filled world {Grey's}. I also realized that I can stream Netflix on my Kindle Fire, plug it into my treadmill, and watch episodes of Mad Men while I exercise. I'm more than halfway through Season 3; I love this show.
planning ::: I'm planning to put a lot of time and energy into my marriage. After 9 years, two kids, and many hours apart, we need to put some energy into making this last. We're starting a marriage class at church on Sunday, so I'm also planning out sitters for the kids so that they don't have to sit through Sunday School twice in one weekend.
laughing about ::: Last week, Hayley was having a really hard time hustling to get herself ready for school. She wanted to get something from upstairs, but it was almost time for the bus to come. When I told her {for the tenth time} that she didn't have time to go upstairs, she responded with...
looking forward to ::: The girls' birthday party this afternoon. I hate throwing birthday parties. I know what I want them to look like, but I never have the energy or desire to do the work that goes into getting the type of party I'd really like to throw. This year, each of the girls gets a family party around their actual birthday and a fun, girly joint birthday party for their friends. The great thing about this party is that the store hosting it does all the work! They'll be making bracelets, drinking lemonade, eating cookies, and enjoying a lot of girls-only fun. It's going to be so much fun.
thinking about ::: How there is a consequence to every action. There are negative consequences and positive consequences, but nothing is free from that truth. Everything you do, every mood you're in, every word you say--it all leaves a mark. I've been thinking about how many times I've been tired or angry or stressed out and passed some of those emotions onto those around me. I want to be more aware of how my actions affect those around me.
"I...hate...TIME!!!! I wish time had never been invented!!!!"
eating ::: I discovered chocolate chip cookies from Enjoy Life. After having less-than-stellar experiences with a number of gluten free treats, I wasn't hopeful when I grabbed this box of cookies from a nearby grocery store. We were heading to Hayley's birthday lunch, and I wanted to be able to have a sweet treat even though I couldn't eat the cake. I was pleasantly surprised to bite into these and love them from the start. I may have eaten the entire box in 3 days... Another treat I've been enjoying is a rice cake with homemade almond butter and some mini chocolate chips. It makes a great dessert!
working on ::: Cutting out caffeine. I haven't had coffee at all this week, and I'm feeling pretty good. The main reason I wanted to cut it out was because it just adds to my morning routine. I felt like I'd be so much happier if I didn't need to worry about the caffeine headache that would hit around 10 am on the days that I didn't have coffee. The first two days weren't terrible, and I credit my green juice with making that transition easier. On day 3, I ended up needing Tylenol, but I had some personal issues to deal with that were probably the root of the headache. Days 4 & 5 have been so good that I didn't even realize I'd skipped the coffee until lunchtime each day.
wishing ::: I'm really wishing that we could go to Mexico over Spring Break again this year. I finally completed our Shutterfly album from our time in Oaxaca, and it made me want to go back there. I have the most wonderful memories of our vacation last March. It almost hurts not to be going this year.

I'm skipping the THREE for now. If I get a chance over the weekend, I'll put something up.

I love New Girl - such a guilty pleasure. Have you watched The Mindy Project? Mindy Kaling is so funny. I love her one-liners. And my husband and I tore our way through Mad Men on Netflix. I can't wait until they put more seasons up. It's such an interesting character- and time-period- study.
ReplyDeleteSuggestion for other delicious GF cookies (not sure if they have them everywhere): there's a brand called WOW. Delicious. DE-LI-CIOUS. ;)
Yes! Love the Mindy Project. I have a few episodes to catch up on. I've been trying to go slow on Mad Men until they get other seasons up! I don't want to go through withdrawal.
ReplyDeleteI'll put those cookies on my list. Thanks for the suggestion. :o)
