the THREE

This Week:  My sick kindergartner ~ Mason jar salads for lunch ~ Babies

1.  Sick Kiddo... Does anyone recall what #402 on my list of 1000 Gifts just so happened to be? I do. It was me being thankful for the fact that we had avoided all the sickness swirling around town this year. And do you recall what I mentioned at the beginning of yesterday's post about how I kept Abby home but was, at the time, going a little stir crazy with her? Well, not long after I wrote that post, my poor little girl was hunched over the toilet giving up the couple sips of water and bites of crackers that were in her little belly. She spent most of the day on the couch or the floor...poor girl was just miserable. Now I'm sitting here trying to plan who should get this bug next and how we're going to handle it {as if I have any control over that one}. Fortunately, the bug only lasted about 12 hours before Abby was back to normal {and she only threw up that one time}. I'm hoping she continues to stay on the upswing because as much as I love the sick day cuddles, I love healthy cuddles even more.

2.  My Salads...  I've mentioned my love of Mason jar salads several times on this blog. Here's what they look like in my fridge. Each week my mix is a little different. This week I have romaine as my base with parsley, kale, carrots and broccoli added in. I toss in some tomatoes, cucumbers, spinach, chicken, and/or cheeses when I'm ready to eat them...those things don't seem to keep well in the jars. It takes me less time to chop up and put together 6 of these salads than it would take me to make one trip to Chipotle or Panera. Then when I'm ready to have one for a meal, I pour dressing over top, shake it up and eat it straight out of the jar.

See that bottled green juice? Most grocery stores & Starbucks locations carry it. Our girls love it.

3. New babies... Our best friends welcomed their first baby earlier this week {#403 on this post}. We are thrilled and can't wait to go meet this sweet baby {and her parents...we really really miss her parents}. Steve and I will be leaving the girls with my parents soon enough so we can head out to Iowa for a visit. I'm so {SO} excited! I'd have another baby in a heartbeat, so the chance to snuggle and love on a newborn just slays me. Several others in our life gave birth this week, but one in particular could use some prayers. Baby Ian was born on Saturday evening and began having seizures not long after birth. His momma and I shared the MOH duties in my cousin's wedding a few years ago, and it would mean a lot everyone who loves this little family if you would remember Ian and his parents in your prayers.
